Psychotherapy and Counselling in South Wimbledon- South West London

There is no coming to consciousness without pain" (Carl Jung).

Hello and Welcome
I am a qualified Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society. I have an interest in human development. I am particularly interested in attachment and how our early relational experiences can influence how we relate to ourselves and others in the world. I offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Counselling and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
I am located in South Wimbledon, South West London. My clinic is within easy reach from Wimbledon and Colliers Wood. At present, due to covid, appointments are on the telephone or video.

Why Seek Therapy?
At times in life one may find it a struggle to cope with situations taking place in the present or with things that have happened in the past. Anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, panic, irritability and stress are some of the common symptoms that can can lead to one feeling overwhelmed. Engaging in therapy can help one to get clarity, make changes and improve decisions in life for the better. Speaking to a counsellor can help an individual to process difficult and painful emotions, to improve self-reflection, to expand self-awareness and increase self-confidence.

Research has consistently shown that counselling, CBT and different types of psychotherapy approaches enable people to explore, identify and change their unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving helping to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

If you have never engaged in counselling or spoken to a counsellor, you may be wondering what to do and what to expect. You may find some of the answers to your questions on the FAQ page.

How I Work
In my work, establishing a nurturing and trusting relationship with clients is important, as I believe it is fundamental for therapy to be effective. My therapeutic work is aimed at providing a safe and trusting therapeutic space in which one can feel able to explore and process deep hidden emotions.

I use a combination of Humanistic, Psychodynamic and CBT theories to guide my clinical practice. Psychotherapy is tailored according to each person’s difficulty. Selecting the type of therapy can be discussed at the assessment stage, as each person is individual in their presenting difficulty and how they wish to work through things.

We can first discuss your difficulty what you would like to gain from therapy and then establish whether I may be able to help you. If I am not the best person to help, I will make suggestions on where you may be able to access the appropriate help.
